INGREDIANTS:
½ Cup Kodri (Foxtail Millet), Ghee, 2 tsp. Gram dal, 2 tsp.udad dal, mustard seeds, methi seeds, ½ cup onions, green chillies, carrots, French beans, peas, tomatoes, ginger, curry leaves, salt, turmeric, cashew nuts & water.
METHOD:
Soak the foxtail millets in a bowl of water for 15/20 minutes. On the other side, put a kadhai on gas add ghee. Once it hot add gram dal, udad dal, mustard and methi seeds and roast till the dals are slightly pinkish. Thereafter add chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves. Later add carrots, French beans, peas and allow it to cook, add tomatoes. Add salt as per taste and turmeric. Allow the vegetables to cook for 5 minutes. Add water and cover it. Lastly add soaked foxtail millet. Allow it to cook for 15 minutes. Remove it from the fire and decorate it with cashew nuts and coriander leaves.
BENEFITS: Millet has protein, copper iron, phosphorus, etc. Thus we get a wholesome item and gives the body immunity and strength. Millet helps control weight gain. Added vegetables increase the benefits of this dish. This dish can be had for breakfast too.
